Walk and Talk Therapy Locations

Sunray Park

There is a trail around the park and a trail that goes behind houses in neighborhoods. There is a bathroom.

There are paved walking trails that are stroller, wheelchair, or walker accessible.

Kiwanis Park, Ahwatukee

There are several parking lots. Let's meet at the parking lot that is just over the bridge in the middle of the park on the Guadalupe side of the park. Sometimes I meet clients on the Baseline parking lot that is by the boat rentals. This is a populated park so we will pass people if we are walking around the lake. It's nice to walk around the lake a time or 2 and perhaps sit under a tree. There are lots of different birds enjoying the lake, too. There are bathrooms. There are paved walking trails that are stroller, wheelchair, or walker accessible

The Oasis/Mountain Park Ranch Hiking Trail

This is a unique spot that isn't very well known or travelled in the heart of Ahwatukee. It's more private than the other locations and depending on the time of year there could be a tiny little oasis of water in the desert. The spot we park on is on the road in a neighborhood. There are no bathrooms.

Pima Canyon Trailhead

This trailhead offers many options and the location is very convenient. When they were expanding the parking lot and putting in new bathrooms I believe I read that it's the most popular trailhead in Maricopa County. There are so many trails, though, we will pass people going in the opposite direction at times, but not so much as Kiwanis park.

Beverly Canyon Trailhead

This trailhead is less populated than Pima Canyon and Mormon Trailhead. There is no bathroom. It's conveniently located off the I-10 and Baseline Road. No bathroom.

Mormon Trailhead 24th

This trail is more of a workout for those who are in shape.  It's all up and then back down.  It's what I think of as the darker rock side of South Mtn.  Very pretty.  No bathroom.

Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch

This place is very special and unique. Although it's not hidden, a lot of people don't know about it. This walk is through a lovely water preserve with sprawling grasslands and serene ponds/lagoons. It's a habitat for a variety of bird species, including some rare migratory ones. Nearly 200 bird species have been spotted in its dense groves. The trails are flat and even suitable for strollers, wheelchairs, and walkers. Some are paved, and meander around the ponds for 4.5 miles. There are various viewing areas, some with benches, to better spot wildlife. Many of the trails are shaded, making it a good choice for warmer months. If the main parking lot off of Guadalupe is full, try the parking lots associated with the next door Gilbert Regional Library. There are several paths leading behind the library to the preserve. Restrooms are located just south of the main parking lot.
